Can students of foreign nationality apply individually as exchange students?
This scholarship is available to international students from Southeast Asian countries and other foreign countries enrolled in a regular course at a university, graduate school, junior college, technical college, vocational school, and other educational institutions within Okayama Prefecture. Please apply through your school’s International Student Services or International Exchange Office.
Can I combine this scholarship with other scholarships?
No, it is not possible to receive other scholarships simultaneously. If you apply for and are selected for another scholarship while receiving a Nakashima Memorial Foundation scholarship and wish to receive that scholarship instead, please contact the office for details.
Will the income I earn from part-time work affect the selection process?
It will not significantly impact the selection process. However, it may be considered as a criterion to determine if you need additional financial support.
What criteria lead to the suspension of scholarship payments for students?
Any of the following reasons may suspend your eligibility.
- You face suspension from school.
- You withdraw from school.
- You resign from the scholarship.
- You fail to submit the Academic Performance Report by the required date without a valid excuse.
- Your academic performance, attendance, or conduct is inferior.
- You do not get involved with anti-social forces.
- Any other circumstances that make you unsuitable to receive a scholarship.
Please note that if you take a leave of absence, the school may suspend your scholarship for that period. Be sure to notify us through your school.
Is there an age limit for applications?
There is no age limit provided the applicant meets the other eligibility criteria. However, if the number of applicants significantly exceeds the available quota, younger applicants may be given priority.
Should I notify you of any changes to the information I provided at the time of application, such as my address?

Do I have to repay the scholarship?
No, there is no obligation to repay the scholarship.
Are there any events or ceremonies where scholarship recipients can gather?
We hold a scholarship award ceremony and a scholarship social event for students selected as scholarship recipients each year in mid to late July. We encourage you to attend.
